DUI & Criminal Defense Lawyer in Wayne, PA

Wayne is not its own town. It is split across three townships in three counties, so the first question in any Wayne case is which courthouse it belongs to.

Getting arrested in Wayne

Most of Wayne is in Radnor Township, which is Delaware County, and the Radnor Township Police handle those arrests. The western edge is in Tredyffrin Township (Chester County), and a small part to the north is in Upper Merion (Montgomery County). Each has its own police department and its own District Attorney.

Downtown Wayne along Lancaster Avenue and North Wayne Avenue is full of restaurants and bars, and many local DUI stops happen within a few blocks of there. Others happen on I-476 near the Radnor exits and on Route 320. With Villanova University and Eastern University nearby, student cases are common too.

What happens next

Radnor cases go to Media, Tredyffrin cases go to West Chester, and Upper Merion cases go to Norristown. Each starts with a preliminary hearing at a local magisterial district court before moving to that county's Court of Common Pleas.

All three counties run ARD programs, but they do not handle applications the same way. We work in all three, so we can tell you what to expect based on exactly where you were stopped.
