Main Line DUI & Criminal Defense Lawyer
The Main Line crosses three counties. Where your case goes depends on which side of a township line you were stopped on, and that changes the courthouse, the prosecutors and the ARD rules.
Getting arrested on the Main Line
Ardmore, Bryn Mawr, Narberth and Gladwyne are in Lower Merion Township, which is Montgomery County, and cases go to Norristown. Wayne, Villanova and Rosemont are mostly in Radnor Township, which is Delaware County, and cases go to Media. Berwyn, Devon and Paoli are in Chester County, and cases go to West Chester. Each township has its own police department, and each county has its own District Attorney.
Most stops we see happen on Lancaster Avenue (Route 30), Montgomery Avenue, and the I-476 ramps. With Villanova, Haverford and Bryn Mawr colleges in the area, we also handle a lot of underage drinking, fake ID and first-offense DUI cases involving students.
What happens next
Regardless of county, the case usually starts with a preliminary hearing at the local magisterial district court and then moves to that county's Court of Common Pleas. The steps look similar on paper, but the counties differ in how they handle ARD and how they approach plea offers.
For many Main Line clients, the bigger worry is what a charge means for a professional license, a security clearance or a college application. We take that into account from day one and push for outcomes that keep your record clean whenever possible.
You work directly with attorney John Gentry from the first call to the last court date. Your case is not handed off to someone you have never met.
