DUI & Criminal Defense Lawyer in Lancaster, PA
Charged in the City of Lancaster or anywhere in the county? Your case will be decided at the courthouse on North Duke Street. Here is what to expect.
Getting arrested in Lancaster
Inside the city, arrests are made by the Lancaster City Bureau of Police. Outside the city, they come from township departments or the Pennsylvania State Police. Downtown stops cluster around the bars on Prince, Queen and King Streets on weekend nights, and out on Route 30 and Route 222 at all hours.
Lancaster is also a college town, with Franklin & Marshall in the city and Millersville University just down the road. Students charged with underage drinking, fake ID or a first DUI have more at stake than just the fine. We pay close attention to how a resolution will look on a school or job application later.
What happens next
Most Lancaster County cases begin with a preliminary hearing at a magisterial district court. Cases held for court go to the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas downtown.
Lancaster County has its own ARD program and its own way of handling first-offense DUIs, so it is worth getting advice specific to this county rather than relying on what a friend went through in Philadelphia. When ARD is not available, we challenge the stop, the testing and the paperwork, and we negotiate from there.
You work directly with attorney John Gentry from the first call to the last court date. Your case is not handed off to someone you have never met.
